Feature Ideas

Hey there and welcome to our feature request forum for The Events Calendar, Event Tickets and all of the premium plugins we develop provide on TheEventsCalendar.com!

We’re always looking for new and awesome ways to improve our products. We think they’re pretty great out of the box, but we also know that there are often things that could make them even better for how folks like yourself use them in the real world. Our tools help the right people, get to the right place at the right time. How can we improve our products and make them super awesome for you and your users? That’s where we can use your help!

If there are features that our products do not currently support but you think would be a huge added value for you and lots of other people, then please share them here with us. The submission form will walk you through a few quick questions to get the ball rolling.

Before posting your idea, here are a few tips that will help make your request stand out and succeed:

  • Look to see if someone else has suggested the same idea, or something very similar. Many ideas are being submitted and it’s very possible that another request already exists. In that case, add your vote to the existing request.
  • Be as descriptive as possible. What does the feature do? Where would it be located? Who would use it? How does this improve the overall experience of managing an events calendar in WordPress?
  • Use mockups, if possible. Pictures are worth a thousand words and having a visual often brings a greater level of clarity to an idea.

Please not, this is not a place to get support or ask questions about how the plugin works. If you need help, please visit our help desk. If you use our free core plugin, you can post in our forum on WordPress.org.

    Howdy!

We wanted to point out Edgar’s easy to use implementation of this feature. For WooCommerce Tickets users you can use the 3rd party WooCommerce plugin: Dynamic Pricing and Discounts ( http://m.tri.be/18gz ). This plugin allows you to configure a discount for logged in users for all WooCommerce products, including Tickets.

Thanks again for reaching out about this. Hopefully that solution will help at least some of you get the feature you wanted right now.

    Cheers!

  2. Tickets: Venue seating chart with different price grade and ability graphically to choose seats.

Add the venue seating chart with different price grade and ability graphically to choose seats (similar plane seat selection with check-in).
Provide ability for ticket admin to "grey out" some reserved seats.

Implementing a graphical solution, where you can click on a given seat and it will reserve it, is probably not possible due to the complexity and technological limitations.

However, would the ability to upload an image of your seating map/chart work? From there you could specify a list of seating names in the backend and when a user purchases a ticket they can select from a drop down of available seats, and cross reference it with your seating chart image so they now which goes where. We realize this will not be as fancy as many people are picturing, but since it is actually possible to implement it is a compromise we would be interested in looking into if this will solve your needs.

We have a KB article about this: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/ticketing-using-seating-chart/

  3. Ticket Bundles / Multiple Event Passes

Set up ticket bundles - for example selling a All Access Pass (all events) or a Pass for a couple of events that provides either tickets for each event and/or for limited seat events a count per pass purchased towards each single event included in the pass.

  4. WooTickets as an in-house box office system as well as online e-ticketing

Right now all ticket types and prices are published, including free tickets, but as a theater manager, I need to be able to issue comp tickets and reserve seats for events that aren't "published" ticket types. So I need an option when adding a ticket type whether or not to publish it or keep it hidden so that I, as the administrator, can operate the sales of that ticket type only from the back-end box office.

On the same note, it would also be helpful to have a reserve or consignment feature that will change the overall number of tickets…

  5. Synchronize Event Categories and Woocommerce Product Categories for Event Tickets items

Add ability to map Event categories to Product categories so that when new tickets are added to an Event, they will automatically be added to a specific product category as well. This is most useful in cases of defining discount and coupon rules, to allow certain types of events to have coupon codes apply without requiring manual editing of ticket products after creation. Alternatively, provide a "Categories" selection box to the Ticket creation form, instead of automatic synchronization.

  6. Specific Roles/Capabilities for Event ticket checkin

Setting capabilities for The Events Calendar and add-ons (such as Wootickets) to an event specific scope would allow better control over distributing tasks for events. Would most useful for Wootickets, and other ticketing add-ons, so that the Event organizer or whoever is in charge of the event itself could be able to check attendees in, without being given access to more content on the site. Current, viewing attendees requires an edit_posts capability, which opens up a lot more access than should be necessary for that task.

  7. Email list of event attendees to admin before event

Have a field to enter in the amount of time you wish to receive an automatic email of event attendees and a field to enter who the email is sent to. This idea was suggested to me by one of our clients, it would make it easier for event organizers to view the attendee list if they are uncomfortable with using the WordPress back end.

Loving the plugin by the way, Cheers!

  8. Recurring Event Support for Tickets

Currently our WooTickets plugin does not work fully with recurring events, and users can only purchase tickets for the most upcoming event in a series. Would it be useful to you to combine the power of WooTickets with the PRO recurring events feature?

We’re continuing our work on a huge revamp of recurring events that would pave the way for recurring tickets. Additionally we’re working on backend improvements to tickets to support this kind of complicated functionality. Please continue to share your use cases in comments so we can strategize the scope of this long-awaited feature.

  9. Shortcode for Ticket Purchase (Eventbrite, etc.)

While the Events Calendar is quite robust, we'll sometimes have standalone pages for larger events. Purchasing tickets might be easier on those pages than on a brief synopsis in The Events Calendar.

Could we have a shortcode to display Eventbrite/etc. tickets on posts/pages?

Anchors don't work well with most naming structures.

    Hello all,

Thank you for your votes and comments.
We would love to see more votes on this one.

Also, as it stands, please note that for RSVP and Event Tickets plus tickets, it is already possible to add them to posts, pages and custom post types (not via a shortcode, but by selecting the appropriate setting under the Events > Settings > Tickets tab)

    Cheers

  10. Reusable Ticket Defaults/Profiles (as per Venues and Organizers)

I would like to see Wootickets integrate a list of default ticket profiles, where we can fill out the commonly used fields we re-type hundreds of times. Almost all of the ticket fields could be automatically populated based on a template, with changes and variations made as needed.

For my personal needs, 99% of the hundreds of tickets I create every month could be selected from a list of 8 profiles, with information being spit out for: names, description, price, start/end sales, stock, etc.

The two fields that would require some consideration for advanced functionality would be:

    variable time frames…

  12. Make enabling/disabling QR codes event specific.

I love the ability to turn it on and off for the whole site but in my case it would be nice have the option to use it for some of our events turn it off for others.
    Thank you!

  13. Add text that the user would see prior to Start Sale date

Add one text field to the ticket area that would incorporate the "Start Sale" field to display a message to the visitor if they view the event before that date.

As it is now, the visitor reads about the event, sees all the When and Where details... and then wonders what they're missing and why they can't purchase/sign up. All they need is a message: "Registration will begin on %StartSale% -- please check back!"

  14. hide event tickets from wordpress & woocommerce search

Since I run a business that sells services, online courses and physical products next to tickets for small workshops and live courses, and find that in the search results there are a lot of tickets for events (both future and past events) that I really don't want in that results. I can't just filter out the product CPT, because I also have other products in store, I do want to show.

So I really need something (preverably a setting) to prevent event tickets from appearing in the search result (both the general WP-search and the WooCommerce Search). Whatever sollution should…

  15. Enable an option for GST calculation in Tickets Plus price displays

    Gday Tribe forumites

In Australia, it is mandatory to display pricing including GST.

The easiest way to add data is to put the ex GST price in (eg. $98) and let the computer do the maths to display the GST inclusive price ($107.80).

The Tickets plus combination with WooCommerce allows one of the frontend display areas to display the GST inclusive, and I suspect this is WooCommerce coding.

However, the primary area for the ticket price does not calculate, it shows the original input.

    Here is a screenshot: https://screencast.com/t/ZBmqzCspXbMb

I'd like a radio button option that overrides the input (default)…

  16. Could we get Event tickets to work with WooExtensions for Product add-ons please. We could then add additional items to customise.

  17. Print name badges with QR code from attendee list

We use Events Tickets Plus with woocommerce and POS. During events we sell tickets to future events as well as products. We'd like to print name badges with the ticket QR code. We can then use the POS to scan the bar code and pull up attendee account info to easily process additional sales.

  18. Email customers once they are checked in

This would be a really handy feature. A customisable email along the lines of "Thanks for attending {Event Name} on {Date}"... etc.

  19. users re-print tickets from user login area

    Hi, very simple one...

I would like users to be able to print tickets from their own admin area. This would ensure that when they don't get the tickets first time (which happens one ever few hundred ticket orders we get) we can just direct them to their account to re-download/re-send and print the tickets instead of coming to us...

This could be in the form of resend email, download tickets as pdf, whatever. As there is already user functionality for a login area with Woocommerce, and there is already the ability to send emails again from an order int…

  20. Show event dates in woocommerce order list

    As asked here: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/adding-event-date-event-name-to-woocommerce-order-list/

Hi there, I have seen in some other event/booking plug-ins that work with WooCommerce that the stored event date (some add the event name too) is displayed in the order list – in the part that displays the details of buyers like name, address, payment method AND event date.

Is there any chance to pick-up that stored information and display it in the WooCommerce order list? if not yet, any plans to implement this in the future?
