Feature Ideas
Hey there and welcome to our feature request forum for The Events Calendar, Event Tickets and all of the premium plugins we develop provide on TheEventsCalendar.com!
We’re always looking for new and awesome ways to improve our products. We think they’re pretty great out of the box, but we also know that there are often things that could make them even better for how folks like yourself use them in the real world. Our tools help the right people, get to the right place at the right time. How can we improve our products and make them super awesome for you and your users? That’s where we can use your help!
If there are features that our products do not currently support but you think would be a huge added value for you and lots of other people, then please share them here with us. The submission form will walk you through a few quick questions to get the ball rolling.
Before posting your idea, here are a few tips that will help make your request stand out and succeed:
- Look to see if someone else has suggested the same idea, or something very similar. Many ideas are being submitted and it’s very possible that another request already exists. In that case, add your vote to the existing request.
- Be as descriptive as possible. What does the feature do? Where would it be located? Who would use it? How does this improve the overall experience of managing an events calendar in WordPress?
- Use mockups, if possible. Pictures are worth a thousand words and having a visual often brings a greater level of clarity to an idea.
Please not, this is not a place to get support or ask questions about how the plugin works. If you need help, please visit our help desk. If you use our free core plugin, you can post in our forum on WordPress.org.

Draft shows in GigPress
I'd like to have the option to create new shows in GigPress adding them as draft. All the publishing options that standard posts have would be nice! Thanks

Improve translations to support languages with complex noun inflections
While the Event Calendar and its PRO version are both translatable, the way translations are done doesn't work for many inflected languages.
The main issue is that nouns "Event" and plural "Events" are translated once and stored as variables, which then is used in all contexts. It works for English because there are only singular and plural noun forms but it's impossible to create correct and meaningful translations in other languages. Same issue applies for Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese and many more languages.
For instance, in Latvian and Lithuanian nouns and adjectives are declined in up to seven overt cases.…

Venue links to google maps directions - walk, transit, driving, biking
Hi,
I saw a feature on Eventbrite's event page today that would be a great addition. Links to directions to venue from your current location.
It has links based on modes of transport.
See here: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/intro-to-ux-design-tickets-22921212965?aff=DM

shortcode to show [upcoming x days]
I'd like a shortcode similar to [tribethisweek], but it would show next 4 or 5 days (or whatever). Currently the [tribethisweek], is great but the week fills the entire width of the page and shows days that have already gone by - taking up valuable real estate on the page.
it'd be great to specify # of days showing would also have next & previous like the week shortcode does. It advance by x number of days instead of 7 days and would always display with today as the first day shown.

Create countdown timer that can be set for each particular event
Right now, the countdown timer can either be set to display [1] the next event, or [2] a particular event. Since my business has many events, it would be most helpful to enable a countdown timer for every single event (so if I visit event A, I see countdown timer A; if I visit event B, then I see countdown timer B).

Email customers once they are checked in
This would be a really handy feature. A customisable email along the lines of "Thanks for attending {Event Name} on {Date}"... etc.

Change month view search results to display month of first event occurrence
On our website we have chosen Month View as our default calendar view. When a user searches an event that occurs in a future month, they see nothing because search results always display the current month. The user thinks the event doesn't exist, in cases where the event happens in a future month.
We'd like to request this be changed so that search results display the month of the first occurrence of the event... a more effective means to display results and improve user experience.
Thanks for considering!

Shortcode > Featured Organizer
As well as having a tribefeaturedvenue shortcode it would be great if there was a featured organiser. I know you can create a list of organisers and venues using the shortcode plugin but I want specific results. Fingers crossed

Be able to send admin notifications for newly added events only
We get admin notifications when a user submits a new event. We also get them when they change a previously submitted event. Too many emails! It would be good to have an option to not get notifications for events which have already been published.

Show event dates in woocommerce order list
As asked here: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/adding-event-date-event-name-to-woocommerce-order-list/
Hi there, I have seen in some other event/booking plug-ins that work with WooCommerce that the stored event date (some add the event name too) is displayed in the order list – in the part that displays the details of buyers like name, address, payment method AND event date.
Is there any chance to pick-up that stored information and display it in the WooCommerce order list? if not yet, any plans to implement this in the future?

Improve the search suggestions in a location search bar so they appear "as you type".
A search suggestion in the location search bar needs improvement. Now the suggestions appear after the user hit "Find Events".
What is a reasoning behind suppressing google snappy suggestions as one types? (as you use theirs api?)
I have used your site as a test http://wpshindig.com/events/ so it is not the problem with my server.
The search suggestions would solve a lot of problems and requests reported here about misinterpretation of the city. It would also increase the user awareness on how the search should be phrased. On top of it it would feel more interactive and 21 century;) and…69 votesneeds more votes ·AdminThe Events Calendar (Product Owner, The Events Calendar by Modern Tribe) responded
Thanks for the suggestion. We are looking to improve the search results in a release after 3.10. So should help the results and then we can come back and consider this feature.

Add tribe_edit_category capability for user roles
Allow control of category capability as you do for venue, organizer, e.g. edittribeorganizer, so we can prevent editors from adding or changing calendar categories.

Option to display distance in filter bar as range slider
Like price filter, which have the option to select the price with the range slider, would be great to have the same option for the distance filter.

Timeline View/display events in a timeline
Add the ability to display event in a continuous timeline. Perhaps something like this - http://theme-fusion.com/avada/timeline-full-width/ for the type of layout

This is a terrific idea. We have discussed laying out all events in a verical or horizonal list, such that you could stop up or left to view past events, and right or down to view future ones. We are keen to see how many people would like that ability. Thank you very much for sharing this!

Integration with EventFul
Hello - new user of the plugin here. We are a large community of activists and bring together a number of events - so far Evenbrite plugin has been amazing.
I wonder if it would be possible to import from Eventful? They have a great accessible API and the monitor the fair use of this: http://api.eventful.com
The API is quite extensive. But in particular I'd like to search by keyword, location and venue.
Thanks!

Selling Tickets with iThemes Exchange
I would love to see Modern Tribe work with iThemes to create integration with iThemes Exchange for selling tickets to events. Any chance this could happen in the future?

Show post-author and categories in main blog loop
The post-author and categories should also be shown for events, which are shown in the main blog loop (just like regular posts).

Compatiblity with Page Widgets and similar plugins
At the moment if you add an event calendar widget to a widget area from the post itself, using a plugin such as Page Widgets (http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-page-widget/), the category selector doesn't work, because, not expecting to be loaded on the post edit screen, it doesn't load all its scripts.
This can be fixed if you want to make your plugin compatible, by modifying line 18 of /events-calendar-pro/lib/widget-calendar.class.php from
if ( $hook != ‘widgets.php’ )
to
if ( $hook != ‘widgets.php’ && $hook != ‘post.php’ )
Now everything works. I realise that if you were to implement this you’d want…
