Feature Ideas

Hey there and welcome to our feature request forum for The Events Calendar, Event Tickets and all of the premium plugins we develop provide on TheEventsCalendar.com!

We’re always looking for new and awesome ways to improve our products. We think they’re pretty great out of the box, but we also know that there are often things that could make them even better for how folks like yourself use them in the real world. Our tools help the right people, get to the right place at the right time. How can we improve our products and make them super awesome for you and your users? That’s where we can use your help!

If there are features that our products do not currently support but you think would be a huge added value for you and lots of other people, then please share them here with us. The submission form will walk you through a few quick questions to get the ball rolling.

Before posting your idea, here are a few tips that will help make your request stand out and succeed:

  • Look to see if someone else has suggested the same idea, or something very similar. Many ideas are being submitted and it’s very possible that another request already exists. In that case, add your vote to the existing request.
  • Be as descriptive as possible. What does the feature do? Where would it be located? Who would use it? How does this improve the overall experience of managing an events calendar in WordPress?
  • Use mockups, if possible. Pictures are worth a thousand words and having a visual often brings a greater level of clarity to an idea.

Please not, this is not a place to get support or ask questions about how the plugin works. If you need help, please visit our help desk. If you use our free core plugin, you can post in our forum on WordPress.org.

  1. Ability to configure end date/time for editing of ticket attendee information

    We run an event and collect attendee information that must be submitted to the venue x days in advance of the event. It would be very helpful if we could configure an end date/time for the ability to edit attendee information for a given event/ticket.

    Also, it appears that attendee information is currently editable indefinitely. I would recommend that the ability to edit attendee information be disabled by default once the event has occurred. Leaving open the ability to edit attendee information indefinitely opens the possibility that reports on past event attendees could have incorrect information (not likely, but possible).

  2. Conditional fields

    We suggest to implement conditional fields in the form, so that it would be possible to show a specific dropdown list or another depending on the content of the main dropdown list

  3. Include the time and date that an attendee was checked in

    I'm using Event Tickets Plus with woocommerce to sell tickets to a daily event, admission to a museum. I am not using event calendar pro at all. I would like to be able to see the time and date that a ticket was checked in on the attendee list, not just the date the ticket was sold on, because they can use the ticket when they want. I want to be able to sort by date or use a date picker, and to be able to export that data and see the check-in date on there also. We want to…

  4. Divi Integration

    Divi is currently one of the best-selling Wordpress themes. It integrates smoothly with WooCommerce but currently doesn't integrate well with The Events Calendar.

    Hello all,

    Thank you for pitching in.
    We have many of our customers and team members using the Events Calendar alongside Divi with great results.

    As long as the proper template is used in Events → Settings → Display , things work great.

    Furthermore, our upcoming 4.3 version of Events Calendar Pro will include full calendar shortcodes that will allow customers to include the full calendar to the page of their choice.

    Please let us know if there are still additional integration needs

  6. Shortcode(s) to display specific event content, meta, ticket/rsvp fields in any page or post

    I see shortcodes that allow the display of calendars and event lists, but not to display the content (description) of a specific event in a page or post.

    This might seem redundant, but at times it might be desireable to be able to include the details for as specific event in a page other than the event detail page, and have it automatically kept in sync with any changes made to the event in the calendar record.

    Other shortcodes to separately enable the display of the event meta data, map, and perhaps even the rsvp/ticket block might also provide a…

  7. Enable latitude longitude for the community events front end submission form.

    We have a lot of events that don’t have a proper address, and I’d like to offer them the option to enter those in if they know them. Even better to offer a link to a tool to find them out. These fields are available in the backend for events, so I don’t know why it shouldn’t be for the front end. I feel like there should just an option to click on from the settings, rather than having to create a customized version of the front end template.

  8. Add support for Name Your Price in Event Tickets Plus for charity events (requires woo commerce name your price)

    Add support for Name Your Price in Event Tickets Plus for charity events (requires woo commerce name your price)
    This allows you to create an event with a ticket. The ticket has a suggested price, but allows the buyer to buy it for whatever price they want. In essence it is a donation for an event

  10. include WP post_meta fields in keyword search

    Right now, The Events Calendar keyword search searches the Title, Post Body, and Post Excerpt.
    I suggest that you add the option to include selected WP post-meta fields (custom fields) to the keyword search.

    This would be extremely helpful, as a number of sites include various page information in custom postmeta fields. I would suggest it not search postmeta by default, but include the option to select which post_meta fields are included in the keyword search.

  11. Select which event details to show on main views

    The idea is to add an admin interface where users can select which details they want to be viewable on the main calendar views, such as List or Month. An On/Off toggle could be made available for some or all of the following event details:
    * Title
    * Description
    * Featured Image
    * Organizer
    * Venue
    * Recurring
    * Cost
    * Categories
    * Tags
    * Event Website
    In some cases this will allow you to view more fields than are now shown by default, in others it will hide the default details if you toggle them off. This will bring…

  12. List View > Adding infinite scrolling

  13. Widgets & Shortcodes > Add start_date and end_date parameters

    This would add the ability to show events only within certain dates using our two primary widgets/shortcodes: List & Mini Calendar. You would able to specify a start date, end date, or both.

  14. Notify organizer when event is created

    I Would love to have the possibility that as soon as an event is created an email is send to the organizer.

    Or the possibility to add instructors to an event who are notified that an event is created

  16. Hide options without upcoming events

    If a filter option does not have a corresponding upcoming event, hide it from the filter itself.

    For example, if I have created a venue called "Alozaina" and there are no upcoming events using that venue, do not show that as an option in the Venues filter.

  17. Set separate event recurrence limit for contributors

    This would be for Community + Pro. As admin I'd naturally use the uppermost limit for neverending events, but for community contributors, a smaller max time period and/or total number of events would be great. Really, just having a max number of total events allowed.

  18. shortcode embed with customised template ability similar to event rocket

    I would love to see a shortcode event embed implementation similar to event rocket.

    ie
    [eventembed category="gala" limit="1" template="shortcode-embed-list-gala"]
    [event
    embed event="3033" template="shortcode-embed-list-past"]

    This shortcode had some really great features specifically:
    1) ability to create and use customised templates for specific needs a) image only template,
    b) upcoming events template with or without ticket sales option
    c) past events template (display only name image description)
    d) what ever you need

    2)Select specific events by id number or category ect (especially useful when events are hidden from calendar view

    thanks

  19. Allow removal of /community in url

    Have a toggle so that you can remove the /community in the url so that all events have the same url base:

    /event/%eventslug%/

  20. Event tags not to mix with Post tags, PLEASE

    Can you separate Event tags from Post tags. It will be much better if when I click on Event tag-slug to go to page mysite.com/events/tag/tag-slug/, not to mysite.com/tag/tag-slug/
