Feature Ideas
Hey there and welcome to our feature request forum for The Events Calendar, Event Tickets and all of the premium plugins we develop provide on TheEventsCalendar.com!
We’re always looking for new and awesome ways to improve our products. We think they’re pretty great out of the box, but we also know that there are often things that could make them even better for how folks like yourself use them in the real world. Our tools help the right people, get to the right place at the right time. How can we improve our products and make them super awesome for you and your users? That’s where we can use your help!
If there are features that our products do not currently support but you think would be a huge added value for you and lots of other people, then please share them here with us. The submission form will walk you through a few quick questions to get the ball rolling.
Before posting your idea, here are a few tips that will help make your request stand out and succeed:
- Look to see if someone else has suggested the same idea, or something very similar. Many ideas are being submitted and it’s very possible that another request already exists. In that case, add your vote to the existing request.
- Be as descriptive as possible. What does the feature do? Where would it be located? Who would use it? How does this improve the overall experience of managing an events calendar in WordPress?
- Use mockups, if possible. Pictures are worth a thousand words and having a visual often brings a greater level of clarity to an idea.
Please not, this is not a place to get support or ask questions about how the plugin works. If you need help, please visit our help desk. If you use our free core plugin, you can post in our forum on WordPress.org.

Recurring Event Support for Tickets
Currently our WooTickets plugin does not work fully with recurring events, and users can only purchase tickets for the most upcoming event in a series. Would it be useful to you to combine the power of WooTickets with the PRO recurring events feature?

We’re continuing our work on a huge revamp of recurring events that would pave the way for recurring tickets. Additionally we’re working on backend improvements to tickets to support this kind of complicated functionality. Please continue to share your use cases in comments so we can strategize the scope of this long-awaited feature.

Charge for event submission and premium/featured events
Develop a package pricing option where users could add a free event or premium event listing. Also allow for a membership option where event promoters could pay a flat monthly / annual fee and enter as many premium events as they would like.

Make Filter Bar compatible with shortcoded calendars
Would be nice to add the filter bar feature to every page with a calendar via shortcode, not only in the event page.
Then it would allow you to make filtered calendars on pages, and let to the user play with the other fields to check information.

Until we get around to do this a possible solution with a 3rd party plugin can be found here:

Add more filters and options to the [tribe_events] shortcode so that it can be customized more.

add waitlist capability
If events are sold out, it'd be nice to have a waitlist capability for last minute ticket cancellations.

Thanks for your votes! We have this on our longterm roadmap for Event Tickets Plus.
Some folks have started using the free Event Tickets addon as a waitlist ( https://wordpress.org/plugins/event-tickets/ ). With that plugin installed a new type of ticket becomes available: RSVP. You can add RSVPs “tickets” to sold out events. This allows users to share their email address if they are interested in attending. You can then email the list of interested users when a ticket becomes available.
With some minor wording modification you can even rename RSVP to “Waitlist” and change any other verbiage to help make this a decent wait list feature for your website.

Allow manual entry of attendee information
I'd like to be able to go into the backend and manually add an attendee to the list.

Make it possible to print calendar
For folks who send out calendars via PDF or need to make photocopies, it would be great to have a printable version.

Email list of event attendees to admin before event
Have a field to enter in the amount of time you wish to receive an automatic email of event attendees and a field to enter who the email is sent to. This idea was suggested to me by one of our clients, it would make it easier for event organizers to view the attendee list if they are uncomfortable with using the WordPress back end.
Loving the plugin by the way, Cheers!

Duplicate Events
If we could copy and event to make a new one, it would save us from having to retype details that stay the same. The only thing we would have to change would be the date.

Thanks for the votes here. Multiple users report successfully using a third-party plugin to duplicate events. You’ll need to look for a plugin that can duplicate Custom Post Types. There is even third-party plugin meant specifically for our products :-)

Notify event organizer of ticket purchase or RSVP
Ability to notify event organizer of ticket purchase.

Thank you all for your patience on this one.
This can be addressed with the following snippet pasted in the functions.php file of your theme (without the PHP tag at the top): https://gist.github.com/niconerd/16770b84adb6156aaa77948bf208bacb
We also want to thank @websource who wrote a separate nice little plugin to address this.

Option to automatically list events near to user
The Map View page ordinarily shows a list of upcoming events, until a user input a location into the "Near/Location" field. I would like to automatically fillout the location field for the user when they hit the default map view page. Using geocoding of the visitors IP, or perhaps via a location request, we can retrieve the users location to fillout this field. You could toggle this option on/off in the settings area.

Provide a way to set an indeterminate time/TBA/TBD for events
An indeterminate time would be useful for placeholder-style events where the specific details aren't known. A plugin-level setting for the text to display, e.g. "TBA", would be nice too.

Band Management
A major advantage of the events calendar plugin is the ability to reuse items like venue or organizers as this reduces the time to add events. The acceptance of an events calendar by the users increases a lot.
Therefore a function to add and reuse the data of a band would be great. Here are some ideas how this could look
Fields needed for creating:
- Name
- Description
- Photo (Upload)
- Address
- ZIP
- City
- Country
- Website
- Telephone
- Name and instrument of the artists (as a list where as many as needed can be added)
Optional: - Name of CDs or Videos

Hello all,
We do not have a specific update on this, however, we just wanted to make sure that everybody has the latest relevant information available.
1) Earlier this year, we have acquired Gigpress: http://gigpress.com/ and we have provided some basic integration with the Events Calendar
2) Although not officially supported, many of our customers have successfully integrated such fields via the Advanced Custom Fields plugin
Cheers and keep the votes coming!

edit single item in series
Hi,
Add a way to edit a single item in a recurring event, so that you can edit one date instead of changing all of them

Howdy folks,
Thanks for all the votes and feedback regarding this subscription/newsletter idea. It is something we have talked about a lot as a result of your feedback.
The author of Events Calendar Newsletter, a third party plugin, just wrote an excellent tutorial regarding integrating that plugin with The Events Calendar so folks can subscribe to your calendar. It covers sending out event based newsletters, possible ways to add a subscribe button to your site, and so forth. It seems ideally suited to the folks requesting this feature. :) We have heard nothing but good things from the users of this Newsletter plugin and wanted to share this possible 3rd party solution with y’all that’s available now.
Cheers!

Reusable Ticket Defaults/Profiles (as per Venues and Organizers)
I would like to see Wootickets integrate a list of default ticket profiles, where we can fill out the commonly used fields we re-type hundreds of times. Almost all of the ticket fields could be automatically populated based on a template, with changes and variations made as needed.
For my personal needs, 99% of the hundreds of tickets I create every month could be selected from a list of 8 profiles, with information being spit out for: names, description, price, start/end sales, stock, etc.
The two fields that would require some consideration for advanced functionality would be:

Date Range Picker
You can only pick a start date with 3.0.
If you have many hundreds of events coming up, many of them at the same location, map view becomes an unwieldy mess.
I suggest, like Google Analytics, the option to pick a RANGE.

One event with multiple venues
If I have three venues that have the same event it would be nice to list all three venues instead of three events.

Thank you guys so much for this idea, and explaining the various use cases where it would be helpful. This has been some tremendous feedback, and helps us understand how best to address your needs.
Some of you will benefit best from our upcoming templating feature, which would allow you to easily duplicate event details from one event to another while changing only the things that vary, such as a venue. Others will no doubt enjoy the ability to link arbitrary events together as one event series. This might be ideal for conventions and large events with multiple days and facilities. This too is an upcoming feature.
The rest would clearly enjoy the ability to have just one event with multiple venues, as you can do with organizers. Thanks to all of your excellent feedback this too is now a feature on our roadmap. It will likely be implemented as…
