Feature Ideas
Hey there and welcome to our feature request forum for The Events Calendar, Event Tickets and all of the premium plugins we develop provide on TheEventsCalendar.com!
We’re always looking for new and awesome ways to improve our products. We think they’re pretty great out of the box, but we also know that there are often things that could make them even better for how folks like yourself use them in the real world. Our tools help the right people, get to the right place at the right time. How can we improve our products and make them super awesome for you and your users? That’s where we can use your help!
If there are features that our products do not currently support but you think would be a huge added value for you and lots of other people, then please share them here with us. The submission form will walk you through a few quick questions to get the ball rolling.
Before posting your idea, here are a few tips that will help make your request stand out and succeed:
- Look to see if someone else has suggested the same idea, or something very similar. Many ideas are being submitted and it’s very possible that another request already exists. In that case, add your vote to the existing request.
- Be as descriptive as possible. What does the feature do? Where would it be located? Who would use it? How does this improve the overall experience of managing an events calendar in WordPress?
- Use mockups, if possible. Pictures are worth a thousand words and having a visual often brings a greater level of clarity to an idea.
Please not, this is not a place to get support or ask questions about how the plugin works. If you need help, please visit our help desk. If you use our free core plugin, you can post in our forum on WordPress.org.

Option to automatically list events near to user
The Map View page ordinarily shows a list of upcoming events, until a user input a location into the "Near/Location" field. I would like to automatically fillout the location field for the user when they hit the default map view page. Using geocoding of the visitors IP, or perhaps via a location request, we can retrieve the users location to fillout this field. You could toggle this option on/off in the settings area.

Date Range Picker
You can only pick a start date with 3.0.
If you have many hundreds of events coming up, many of them at the same location, map view becomes an unwieldy mess.
I suggest, like Google Analytics, the option to pick a RANGE.

Re-think the SEO to cut down on duplicate content and/or options for canonical URLs
Idea: Re-think the SEO to cut down on duplicate content and/or options for canonical URLs
The current setup means that recurring events are classed as duplicate content by search engines. This is terrible for SEO. There needs to be a way to fix this issue, and I can think of 2:
Set up the future recurring events so that they all use the same URL. The events on my site are not different year-to-year, so there is no reason the page/content/URL must be different. A single URL would suffice, but placed in the correct recurring dates in the calendar would…

Recurrence vs. repeating events
Scenario: A singe event that spans several days at the same time. For example a 3-day seminar or class that is 9:00 am - 3:00 pm on all three days.
As it stands now, when you setup the recurrence pattern, on the calendar it looks like three separate events on separate dates. I would be nice to see it span the dates. More so, if you set a price, on the surface it looks like the price is 'X' amount for each day and not for the entire event.
I have seen this functionality in other premium event calendars.

That’s a nice idea. I’m looking forward to see more votes on this.

Past Events Widget
It would be awesome to have a Past Events widget to show previous events. My business uses the ECP to show all of our tournaments, and people always want to see the results, which are embedded on each event page. A widget to automatically show the previous (1-20) events would save sooooo much time! Thanks for your consideration!

This is a great idea and we really appreciate you sharing it. It is very possibly something we could build as an extension or an enhancement we could include in of our feature updates. We will continue keeping an eye on this, and slot it as soon as we can amongst our hundreds of other great feature ideas.
Cheers!

Google Rich Cards Support?
Google is now going to be having Rich Cards, the evolution of rich snippets. It would be great to be an early adopter and have this support. There is going to be a sitemap feature to these as well with webmaster tools preview.
Note: right not its only for recipes and movies, but im sure they'll be rolling more out.

Show more details on map pop-up
As per this thread: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/map/#post-938982
Add the ability to add more detail in the map pop-up, such as Venue Name, Event Start Date, Ticket Links, etc.

SEO Friendly permalinks: event/month-day-year/title
It would be great to have a bit SEO friendlyness for the URL structure. Either: event/month-day-year/title or event/category/month-day-year/title.
This would most certainly benefit everyones events to show up on Google abit better and the URL structure would keep consistent and clean all the way :)
More thoughts about URL friendlyness is described here: http://searchengineland.com/seo-friendly-url-syntax-practices-134218
What do you guys and gals think?

Please provide an option (maybe an extension) to use abbreviations in US & Canadian state/province names
Please provide an option (maybe an extension) to use abbreviations in US & Canadian state/province names: New Hampshire (NH), South Carolina (SC), British Columbia (BC), Prince Edward Island (PE).
Many websites (including ours) use the abbreviations instead of the default full state name, which is a clumsy workaround and results in a dotted line under SC, BC, etc. (unable to reproduce this here).137 votes -
Venue picker: show venue city, state to disambiguate venues with same name in different cities
The venue picker lists all existing venues by name, but does not indicate the city/state for each venue. The result is that venues with the same name but in different cities will be indistinguishable on the list.
Example: churches, schools, synagogues have common names that reoccur from city to city. Rather than working around this by modifying the venue name itself [eg, "St. Luke's Lutheran Church (Seattle)", "St. Luke's Lutheran Church (Federal Way)"], it would be nice to keep the venue titles clean and instead disambig based on the city, state.

Upcoming Events Sidebar Widget Needs to be Clickable to Open Full Calendar
Please make it so when people click on the top of the calendar image of the sidebar widget it opens the page with the full calendar -- or make it so I can set this up.
Invariably I watch people new to my site try to do this. I have tried to do it. Other calendars do it. Why doesn't the Event Calendar do it. Did I just miss not setting it up right?
Thank you.

Allow save custom recurrence rule set and apply to new event
I'd like to be able to create a set of recurrence rules, with both regular occurrences and exclusions - and then save them as a custom named ruleset that I can apply to another event.
We have many events that run on a regular basis outside of school term-times. We can manually exclude the dates that fall within school holidays, but it would be a massive timesaver to only have to do this once and save it as for example "school holidays 2018" so that we can apply this custom set of rules to any other event. This has broader…

have an option for setting defaults for the meta fields. Such as defaulting to "All Day Event"
It would be great if the Event Settings included options to set defaults. I'd love to be able to default new events to ALL DAY, rather than having to check that box every time.

Add a new Event in Month View
It would be great to have a month view with the possibility to add a new event directly.

Add option to reorder zip and city for certain countries
In quite a few european countries, the usual (and also "correct" in terms of what postal services expect on an envelope) way to write addresses is like this:
Venue Name
Street 23
12345 City
CountryWhile the notation of street and number ("123, Park Avenue" vs. "Hauptstraße 17") isn’t an issue (since it’s only one field in the database), addresses like "Berlin, 12345 Deutschland" (instead of the correct "12345 Berlin, Deutschland" are quite disturbing.
I am aware that src/views/modules/address.php could be customized by the user, but I would strongly suggest to add an option to reorder zip and city. This…

Events categories and events dates in the permalink structure
For a better SEO friendly URL structure I suggest the customization of the permalink structure including the category for the single event and maybe the date of th event too.

Interesting idea. This would probably be added as an option for permalinks, since not everyone would want it.

custom coloring for shortcode tribe_events_list
Be able to change the colors on the tribeeventslist shortcode date graphic and event title without having to use custom CSS or other coding. Or provide a support answer for this issue with the CSS required so that we can easily grab, modify and paste into our website custom CSS.

Combine the Advanced Filter Bar with Standard Tribe Bar
It would be great if the advanced filter bar completely replaced the standard bar once installed. This was we can maintain the functionality of both, but only have a single filter/search bar on the screen. Right now it is a bit confusing to have two separate filters. I have noticed several complains on the forums and on the feature request page stating that viewers are becoming confused by the filter options and unable to find their desired events. Although many solutions have been proposed, I think merging the two bars would mitigate a majority of the concerns and reduce space…

Add tribe_edit_category capability for user roles
Allow control of category capability as you do for venue, organizer, e.g. edittribeorganizer, so we can prevent editors from adding or changing calendar categories.
