If we could copy and event to make a new one, it would save us from having to retype details that stay the same. The only thing we would have to change would be the date.
Thanks for the votes here. Multiple users report successfully using a third-party plugin to duplicate events. You’ll need to look for a plugin that can duplicate Custom Post Types. There is even third-party plugin meant specifically for our products :-)
Check it out: https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicate-tec-event/
I would like Template events in event calendar for the user to be able to create events from. Right now, the user who creates events for my organization is using events from the past that have been moved to the trash bin to create new events.
This plugin was last update was done more than a year ago for Wordpress 4.8. A can not believe you recommend that instead creating a much needed feature!
As good as third party plugins may be... A simple copy event feature in the events calendar plugin would be best!
So please please please... Build it in.
Thanks for your signpost to the plugin. Although this is a good option, it would better to have this built into Events Calendar to reduce the number of unnecessary plugins on our WP site.

Just adding a vote up here - Community Events would be much more user-friendly with a Duplicate option!

Further comment (sorry)
I get that tickets are actually complex and/or compound objects, given that they're (somehow) connected to WooCommerce products AND I get that they're separate content types than TEC events. And so I'm not surprised that simple duplicators like Duplicate Posts or Duplicate TEC Events wouldn't be able to handle duplicating them.
But for clients who's business depends on selling tickets to hundreds of similar but not identical events a quarter having to go in and manually add tickets to hundreds of events is a serious pain point!!!

I'll just note that neither Duplicate Posts or Duplicate TEC duplicate tickets. Since there can be more data entry for tickets than for the events themselves this is a big deal for those of us with clients who host hundreds of events a year.
Hi there! Just wanted to note that using the post Duplicator plugin to duplicate events that have tickets in it, also duplicates the event attendees which might be undesirable in many cases.
Thanks Lauren for flagging this.

Note that the Duplicate TEC Event plugin hasn't been updated for over eight months. The "Solution Provided" tag is no longer appropriate.

My concern with the duplicate-tec-event plugin - which I have tried out - is that it isn't tested with the latest vsn of WP and hasn't had any work done for over a year. I'm very very nervous of using plugins that are not robust or well supported. TBH it seems such an obvious feature to have I can't see why the resistance - I know that you have a very long list of nice to have's but this strikes me a a simple one to add. In the meantime I'll have a look at Hans' suggestion.
I have tried the duplicate tec event plugin you advice here as a sollution, but I have found it to contain an annoying error. Since I found no sollution and the autor hasn't reacted on the support thread I have checked the code myself and writen the error as I understand it down in a support thread in wordpress.org.
Even if it worked allright I found that it isn't as robust as I would like, for instance not checking if a user is autorised to duplicate, When I looked into the duplicate post plugin I tried also, I found such checkes where indeed in place and it seemed both a more generic and a more robust solution.
As far as I have tried it copies all settings and content of an event and it is used by many so probably better tested anyways. So perhaps you should rather recommend that one, than a less solid and error containing plugin that has tex in the name.
Hope it helps.
Duplicate posts or similar plug ins do not allow you to clone posts with community events. I want users to be able to clone events, not just admin. thanks.
@Jim We are sorry to hear that this third party plugin does not work well in combination with the SiteOrigin plugin.
In reality, you could use any plugin that duplicates custom post types.
You might have to try a few to find one that works for your situation.
You might start with this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/post-duplicator/

Note: The "duplicate-tec-event" plugin has what is for me a serious flaw. I use SiteOrigin PageBuilder, and when I duplicate an event, PageBuilder's structure is stripped out, leaving me with a mess in regular text editor. IOW, it's useless. Please, ModernTribe, make this a feature of the Events Calendar!

I'm happy that there's a plugin that works. I try to keep the number of plugins to a minimum, so am here to vote for this very useful, almost essential, feature to be included in the actual EC.
I would ALSO love to see this feature. It would make life for my users much easier! :) PLEEEEEASE!!
I would so love to be able to replicate an event as I have a lot of repetitive events. I don't think this is currently possible? Using the recurring events option isn't often possible for me as a lot of my events are all over the place time/date-wise.
Thank you for your input on this topic.
As you can imagine, we get a ton of new feature requests every day.
Even though we are super grateful for such an engaged client base, we unfortunately cannot code fast enough to implement all of them.
As such, we have to prioritize new features based on User Votes and feedback.
It is also worth noting that until this becomes a part of our plugins, you can absolutely use a third-party free plugin to duplicate events.
There are many of them out there (that support custom post types), but here's one apparently specifically intended for our plugins :-)
Cheers and Thank you for your understanding!
Brand new user. Can't believe this isn't a part of PRO. My organizations do the same event every year on different dates. Google calendar - a FREE thing - allowed me to just duplicate and change the date.
Please add the feature
