Filters in "Filter Bar" based on Additional Fields
How about making the expensive Filter Bar compatible to use The Events Calendars “Additional Fields” as filters?
The Filter Bar is very locked as doesn't take advantage of the great Additional Fields" option already available.
Howdy folks! We’re happy to say that this feature is ready, complete and will be included in Version 4.0. We expect that to release sometime today so please do keep you eyes peeled.
Thanks again for showing us how important this feature is and helping us build it out. We hope you enjoy it. :)

I purchased the filter bar and was so disappointed, it is so limited. I need a drop down with states and countries most of all as my events is all over the country.

Really need to add Country / State category drop down in addition to Sport category. No one is going to look for all Marathon events when they are in another country or state.
Glad to see you guys are working on this. What's the ETA? if not the next week or so, can you point me to a step by step guide to doing this on my own? Thanks.

Yes, that could work - and could be useful for other Additional Fields content, too.

I spent a lot of time evaluating comparable products with yours. The KEY reason I went with your expensive solution was because it allowed me to stipulate "additional fields". But now that I have re-read your filter bar advertisments, I see that your company went out of its way to eschew the limitations of the filter bar. Perhaps I should have read between the lines with a more skeptical eye?
In my opinion, this product is not finished. I suspect when this product is finally finished, your will market the completed product as a separate "upgrade" to the Filter bar.
This extension is not worth the money. Period. I will be asking for a refund. False advertising comes in many forms. I encourage your company to explain that the filter bar and additional fields DO NOT WORK TOGETHER. But then, that might affect your sales?

Currently there is no way to apply a unique set of tags to the Events Calendar - the calendar automatically pulls in WP post tags. Our post tags are completely irrelevant to our calendar, forcing us to disable events tags. I'm sure we're not the only organization that would like to let users filter by specific event tags!
I am sorry it has taken a while to implement this. I know it's important to all of you.
We have been working hard this past year on building up a solid foundation for our plugin. Usually it is best to shore things up before adding large features, as it makes them easier for you to work with and have fewer bugs. The fruits are now being seen. Starting with our last 3.11 release, and especially the upcoming 3.12, we have begun rolling out a lot of new highly requested features. This will continue for the foreseeable future, and Additional Fields for Filter Bar is high on our list of features we would like to add very soon.
I apologize it has taken longer than anyone would like. If we had infinite resources we would have built it the day it was requested. Of course we don't, and so we are doing our best to get this and the 100s of other popular feature requests implement ASAP.
This needs to be done ASAP guys, we paid big bucks for that filter bar only to be sorely disappointed. We're another user who made a false assumption that it would be a part of the filter upgrade.
Yes, please!! This would make a huge difference in the flexibility of your product. Surprising it isn't already included.
Just purchased the filter bar.....and was amazed this wasn't a built in feature....!! Any update on an ETA for this...?
this is seriously overdue guys.
Yes please I would definitely like to have this function
I'm confused by Admin comments. On 2/28/14 you have a post saying "We are specifically working on this' and on 4/30/15 you say: We don't have a specific ETA. This is something we plan to do, but not something we're actively working on
I would like to verify which answer is correct. Thanks

We need filter bar based on city and country and may be state/province

We don't have a specific ETA. This is something we plan to do, but not something we're actively working on. If you purchased Filter Bar specifically thinking this was a feature, we can provide a refund for you. Please email us at support (at) theeventscalendar.com so we can help you.
Could we please have some sort of ETA on this. I just purchased thinking this was possible (for $89 the filter bar..) It's been more than 1 year.
I really, really need this too: adding filters to filter bar based on additional fields. I'm looking over the threads describing custom code to achieve these results, but it's a bit over my head.
I was specifically looking for this feature. However, please note that there should be an option for deselecting these fields to show up in the places where additional fields would normally show up.
An example. I want to link events to certain groups (BuddyPress... integration would be great). I want peple to be able to select events from certain groups, just like the days of the week or the categories. However, I don't want these additional fields to show up in the event information box. It just wouldn't fit there.

This requirement has recently cropped up for one of my clients I purchase this for too. Would really love to have this available for September 2015. Would also negate the other suggestion I've added for Filter Bar 'enabling "and" behaviour as an alternative to "or" logic'.

I really need this also. I purchased this plugin as well as two other addons thinking that I could make "Additional fields" filterable.
Just wanted to add a warning for pre purchasers of the "WordPress Events Calendar Filter Bar" "WordPress Events Calendar Pro", "WordPress Events Calendar Community" WordPress Events Calendar Add-ons. That the "filter Bar" add-on does NOT allow "Additional Fields" to be added to the filter.
There are complex work arounds, but no definitive solutions. My recommendation is for them to add this feature to the filter bar addon as standard. Otherwise the add-on is not very useful.
