Shared media library for community events submissions

On many websites most of the events are being created by users.
They upload the events and an according image via the Event Submit page:
http://www.domain.com/events/community/add

Unfortunately this unneccessarily blows up the media library with the same images (10 events of one band = 10 equal images in the media library).

It would be great to let the user select his own (security!) images via the media manager.

Here are two links with code snipplets that is maybe a good start to implement this:

Restricting access to only images that have been uploaded by the user:

Integrate the media manager in your own plugin:

It seems to me that it would be a good idea to filter the images to images previously uploaded by the user so they can't manage anyone else's images. Also, I don't think they need delete rights. Just upload or select. But this is getting to be completely unmanageable in my media library where users are uploading the image dozens of times a week for the same venue.

This would be absolutely awesome! Could help with blown up media libraries as well as with avoiding copyright issues. Please implement this! I'd be so thankful for this feature.

I didn't know that when event organizers add pictures to their events that it puts the image into the Media Library, creating a big hodge podge of everyones images. That sounds horrible! I am def interested in seeing this improved.
