Feature Ideas
Hey there and welcome to our feature request forum for The Events Calendar, Event Tickets and all of the premium plugins we develop provide on TheEventsCalendar.com!
We’re always looking for new and awesome ways to improve our products. We think they’re pretty great out of the box, but we also know that there are often things that could make them even better for how folks like yourself use them in the real world. Our tools help the right people, get to the right place at the right time. How can we improve our products and make them super awesome for you and your users? That’s where we can use your help!
If there are features that our products do not currently support but you think would be a huge added value for you and lots of other people, then please share them here with us. The submission form will walk you through a few quick questions to get the ball rolling.
Before posting your idea, here are a few tips that will help make your request stand out and succeed:
- Look to see if someone else has suggested the same idea, or something very similar. Many ideas are being submitted and it’s very possible that another request already exists. In that case, add your vote to the existing request.
- Be as descriptive as possible. What does the feature do? Where would it be located? Who would use it? How does this improve the overall experience of managing an events calendar in WordPress?
- Use mockups, if possible. Pictures are worth a thousand words and having a visual often brings a greater level of clarity to an idea.
Please not, this is not a place to get support or ask questions about how the plugin works. If you need help, please visit our help desk. If you use our free core plugin, you can post in our forum on WordPress.org.

Import from Active.com and RunSignUp.com - both have APIs
Would be great to pull from both of these sites. They have APIs for this and affiliate programs. Displaying events from these sites could be a revenue generator.

Merge locations
OMG I love Event Aggregator. But now that it's importing from third party calendars (Facebook and Google Calendars etc) the locations section is a mess of duplicate locations. I don't know the correct terminology, but could there be a system which allows locations to be merged, and it learns the terminology (so it knows that "the flying nun" and "flying nun" are the same location). Thanks!!!

suppress category import in Event Aggregator
When importing events, the assigned category often comes with it. I believe this is other wordpress sites. I would like a way to suppress importing other calendar's categories. Just makes a mess and then I have to delete the category.

Add "Frequency" to bulk actions for scheduled imports
The ability to select multiple scheduled imports and switch the frequency (daily, hourly, weekly, etc) would be great. I often need to update several imports at a time depending on seasons and going one-by-one is rather tedious.

Option to remove events not present in a reimported iCal feed
This option would allow for events that get deleted from an iCal feed to be automatically deleted from The Events Calendar as well. So if you are importing an .ics calendar from a different site, such as Google Calendar or Outlook 365, and you delete the event there it will be deleted from the The Events Calendar on the next import.
The iCal format is dedicated to event creation, and does not contain any data on events that have been deleted. However, with this option checked the iCal Importer could assume that any event no longer present in a given…

Add songkick or bandsintown integration
I would like to be able to create a calendar of live music in my city using your events aggregator feature

Add names/aliases to imports
iCalendar imports don't have the ability to be named, which makes working with them confusing – I have a whole bunch of imports called "calendar", and I don't know which is which.
5 votesI can definitely see how this would be really useful.

Allow imports from Ticketmaster
Would be nice to be able to import events from Ticketmaster (using their Discovery API?)

Add more frequency options to Event Aggregator automatic imports
Right now, the automatic import frequency options in Event Aggregator go from hourly to daily with no options in between. Those are hugely different for how up to date the calendar would be. I'd like either a few options in between (ie every two hours, every three hours, every six hours) or the ability to manually choose the frequency.

Notifications for Pending Imported Events
When a new import has been made and the event is set to "waiting for approval" an e-mail is sent to one or more (pre defined by admin) addresses with a message saying "you have new events to approve".

API to create new scheduled imports
Provide an API for creating new scheduled imports to be executed in Event Aggregator. We need to import thousands of automated import sources to aggregate from on various schedules. An API should enable us to extend the plugin to allow importing these scheduled imports from an external data source. We would like the ability to provide all the information required for creating a scheduled import in a single object or array.
3 votesHi, AZ Resist. Thanks for sharing your idea. This is likely to be available in the future in a PHP API but not a REST API. We’ll update this idea when there is any more information to share. Until then, we’ll leave this open to additional supporters’ votes.

Include [View-Event] link in notification of newly imported event
When a new event is imported a notification is given which includes a link to any new venue or new organizer. However the new event itself is not linked.
The new event listing is likely to be the view that one is most likely to want to look at to see if it has rendered correctly, or to edit some personal content to the event.
It could be a simple fix to add [View your event listing] to the notification.
This is what is currently shown:
Import complete!
1 new event was imported. 1 new image was imported.

Ability to prepend/append text to event title
When importing events from multiple sources it would be nice to have the ability to prepend/append some text to indicate the event source and differentiate it from other imported events.
For example, if an import feed came from "Event Organizer A", I might want to prepend "Event Organizer A--" to the event title such that the imported title appeared as "Event Organizer A--Event Title".
Seems like this shouldn't be too difficult to implement and would be quite handy.

Add ability to import multiple iCal files simultaneously
Currently in Event Aggregator, the iCal import is a one-by-one process. Select an iCal file, import it. Select next iCal file, import it. Etc.
If I could select and upload multiple iCal files at once and process them simultaneously it would make a tedious process much quicker.
Also, if you could auto-delete the iCal files from the WP Media section it would be appreciated. These files are not likely to be used as content as any page/post. Better yet, would be to upload them in some other fashion so they don't end up in the WP Media section at all.

Allow import from Wild Apricot
We import events for a couple of organizations that are using Wild Apricot (https://www.wildapricot.com). Since Wild Apricot isn't support by EA, we import the events via ics file.
If EA supported automated event import for Wild Apricot it would certainly make updating events much easier.
Thanks!

Mark import as featured
It would be great if imports could be marked as featured so that all events from that source get featured tag rather than having to go in and manually mark them.

Adding multiple categories & tags
Now we can pick one category when using the aggregator, but in our calendar it's possible that a certain event belongs in more categories.
This means I still have to do this manually to complete the event. Also I miss the option to activate tags. For this the same as with the categories it's handy when we could fill out more then one tag.43 votes -
Import from Openagenda.com
Should be great to integrate Openagenda.com agenda directly in The Event Calendar

Set the publishing date for imported events
I like to include some events in my main feed.
If for example I import the fixtures for a sports season that overwhelms the main feed and fills it with events - rather than todays features and stories.
We can chose where imported events end up: publish, draft, etc. Why can we not set the publish date as well?
Either chose a publishing date when performing the import - today or a date in the past (or future).
Or allow the publishing date to be edited in the bulk in draft mode - rather than have to open each event…3 votes
