Feature Ideas

Hey there and welcome to our feature request forum for The Events Calendar, Event Tickets and all of the premium plugins we develop provide on TheEventsCalendar.com!

We’re always looking for new and awesome ways to improve our products. We think they’re pretty great out of the box, but we also know that there are often things that could make them even better for how folks like yourself use them in the real world. Our tools help the right people, get to the right place at the right time. How can we improve our products and make them super awesome for you and your users? That’s where we can use your help!

If there are features that our products do not currently support but you think would be a huge added value for you and lots of other people, then please share them here with us. The submission form will walk you through a few quick questions to get the ball rolling.

Before posting your idea, here are a few tips that will help make your request stand out and succeed:

  • Look to see if someone else has suggested the same idea, or something very similar. Many ideas are being submitted and it’s very possible that another request already exists. In that case, add your vote to the existing request.
  • Be as descriptive as possible. What does the feature do? Where would it be located? Who would use it? How does this improve the overall experience of managing an events calendar in WordPress?
  • Use mockups, if possible. Pictures are worth a thousand words and having a visual often brings a greater level of clarity to an idea.

Please not, this is not a place to get support or ask questions about how the plugin works. If you need help, please visit our help desk. If you use our free core plugin, you can post in our forum on WordPress.org.

I suggest you ...

  1. Enable re-occurring events

Many events are re-occuring. Options that would be appreciated:
Select weekly (select applicable days of the week)
Select monthly (select 1st, 2nd, 3rd or last - and then day of the week)

    • Make compatible with 6G Firewall Rules

Currently the calendar view shortcode is not compatible with .htaccess rules that form the so called "6G Firewall" by PerishablePress, used by some Wordpress security plugins such as WP Security (aiowpsec).

The plugin returs a 403 error when trying to change months on the shortcode view on a post / page.

Changing the query used by the JS backend to look different from a suspicious / malicious one would improve plugin compatibility

      • Add a new Event in Month View

It would be great to have a month view with the possibility to add a new event directly.

        • integrate a back-end sales platform for in-store sales

This plugin could really use a back-end POS not unlike the (seemingly abandoned) Woocommerce POS, only with more specialized compatibility with the additional Event Tickets features. I sell tickets out of the store that runs my events (as well as online, obviously), and I'd really like my in-store sales represented in my online inventory and "who's attending" sections. Unfortunately, plugins designed to integrate Woocommerce with existing POS systems are never going to be able to differentiate between tickets for past events and tickets for future events, nor will they ever be able to collect the same data from customers that…

          • adding people who are interested

On your plugin there is possible to buy ticket, but I can't find something like e.g. user are browsing events, some of them is good for him, and he/she click on add to my list. After date's on event peope can added something like "I was there". It's something like on Facebook Events.

            • Private/Members Only Calendar

I would like the ability to hide the calendar (and subsequently any events, venues and organisers) from logged out users.

I recently came upon a situation when a site owner asked me to hide the calender unless the user was logged in. I know it is possible to make an event private, however, the site owner didn't like this as they though an empty calendar looked depressing and misleading to potential members of the site.

So why not have the ability to hide any plugin content from users and display an alternative (possibly custom) message requesting the user to login?

              • Band Management

A major advantage of the events calendar plugin is the ability to reuse items like venue or organizers as this reduces the time to add events. The acceptance of an events calendar by the users increases a lot.

Therefore a function to add and reuse the data of a band would be great. Here are some ideas how this could look

                Fields needed for creating:

                - Name
                - Description
                - Photo (Upload)
                - Address
                - ZIP
                - City
                - Country
                - Website
                - Telephone
                - Name and instrument of the artists (as a list where as many as needed can…

                  Hello all,

We do not have a specific update on this, however, we just wanted to make sure that everybody has the latest relevant information available.

                  1) Earlier this year, we have acquired Gigpress: http://gigpress.com/ and we have provided some basic integration with the Events Calendar

                  2) Although not officially supported, many of our customers have successfully integrated such fields via the Advanced Custom Fields plugin

Cheers and keep the votes coming!

                • Rating System for Events

A rating system for past events could be great. I was looking into implementing with GD star, but you can only have the option of rating ALL events, not past events due to the event date being set as meta data not as post date.
