Feature Ideas

Hey there and welcome to our feature request forum for The Events Calendar, Event Tickets and all of the premium plugins we develop provide on TheEventsCalendar.com!

We’re always looking for new and awesome ways to improve our products. We think they’re pretty great out of the box, but we also know that there are often things that could make them even better for how folks like yourself use them in the real world. Our tools help the right people, get to the right place at the right time. How can we improve our products and make them super awesome for you and your users? That’s where we can use your help!

If there are features that our products do not currently support but you think would be a huge added value for you and lots of other people, then please share them here with us. The submission form will walk you through a few quick questions to get the ball rolling.

Before posting your idea, here are a few tips that will help make your request stand out and succeed:

  • Look to see if someone else has suggested the same idea, or something very similar. Many ideas are being submitted and it’s very possible that another request already exists. In that case, add your vote to the existing request.
  • Be as descriptive as possible. What does the feature do? Where would it be located? Who would use it? How does this improve the overall experience of managing an events calendar in WordPress?
  • Use mockups, if possible. Pictures are worth a thousand words and having a visual often brings a greater level of clarity to an idea.

Please not, this is not a place to get support or ask questions about how the plugin works. If you need help, please visit our support forums. If you use our free core plugin, you can post in our forum on WordPress.org.

I suggest you ...

  1. Make Filter Bar compatible with shortcoded calendars

Would be nice to add the filter bar feature to every page with a calendar via shortcode, not only in the event page.

Then it would allow you to make filtered calendars on pages, and let to the user play with the other fields to check information.

    • Add more frequency options to Event Aggregator automatic imports

Right now, the automatic import frequency options in Event Aggregator go from hourly to daily with no options in between. Those are hugely different for how up to date the calendar would be. I'd like either a few options in between (ie every two hours, every three hours, every six hours) or the ability to manually choose the frequency.

      • Add Permissions & Capabilities for Ticket Fieldsets

Currently Permissions can be added for:
        - Events
        - Venues
        - Organisers

        https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/admin-roles-and-permissions/

However there are no capabilities for "Ticket Fieldsets" therefore it uses the "edit_posts" functionality.

You are therefore unable to segment these users from being able to also edit posts.

Would be good to have a set of capabilities for ticket fieldsets
        i.e.

        read_tribe_ticket
        delete_tribe_ticket

Plugin to import facebook hours to website, so a business only has to update hours in one spot and they then match website.

            • Show The Events Calendar link - configure to "open in new tab" rather than replacing the

Would like to include the "Powered by Events Calendar Pro" link on my client's calendars (to share the love and tell the world how awesome the plugin is) however, the link needs to open in a new tab rather than replace my clients calendar page. A simple mark-up is all that is needed.

                • Fix the Swagger.io docs

The Swagger.io import fails with about 50'sh errors. It is a great idea since it helps us export clients, etc. When it has so many errors it is less useful, though.

Some errors include simple adjustments like "type: int" vs "type: integer".

                  Keep up the great work.

For [tribe_mini_calendar] shortcode we have a host of filter options such as city, ZIP, tag, category, etc. but for the [tribe_events] shortcode we only have category, featured, and date. It would be great to see all the other filter options on the [tribe_events] shortcode, as well

                      • Hiding or filtering WooCommerce Event tickets from admin product list

I would really like to have a filter in the WooCommerce Product list (admin) to hide the tickets Event Ticket Plus generates there. I find the number of ticket products build up quickly and mostly I want to manage the (much smaller number of) non-event products in my store and don't want to have to plough through the entire list of events products to find those products.

Since I tend to access WooCommerce Ticket-products via the event admin page, I don't really need them in the product list, although I can Imagine it would be more flexible if a filter…

                          • Show Number of Events in Filter

Dynamic event count for filters, similar to:
                            - SHIRTS (23)
                            - SHORTS (15)

                            - HATS (31)

These filters would change as other options are selected, as seen on Amazon and other major sites.

                            • Add a Search Bar to a single event page

How about adding the search bar to a single event page. When I am on a single event page the only thing takes me back to the main calendar is the link at the top that reads, "All Events". I run a state-wide event calendar and it would be great to keep people on the site. If they don't find what they are looking for on that single event maybe they would search for others if the search feature was on that event. Most people look for a search and they may not go back to the All Events page.

A switch in the settings to hide or turn off the follwowing fields in the event submit form would be useful:
                                d) Timezone (not necessary if there are only events of one country/region)
                                e) Recurring events (not every calendar needs them)

                                • H1 duplicate

                                  Hello,

I do not know if this option is feasible or not, but I propose.

For a good SEO, it is recommended to have only one H1 per page.

Currently, on the page of an event, there is 2 H1. One put by Wordpress (<h1 class = "entry-title">) and the other taken by the widget (<h1 class = "tribe-events-single-event-title">) where we find the title of our event.

I wanted to know if it was possible to remove the H1 widget and replace it with the one proposed by Wordpress to best meet the SEO requirement.

                                  Thank you

Provide a single location for venue or organizer to enter their upcoming events, which will then auto populate the venue's social media accounts (FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc) and their emailer program. This would allow us to offer a Premium Package to venues that want a one-stop solution to marketing their events.

                                    • If created via Community Events then show user who created it, as well as some information from their profile.

It would be great to see who created the event and a little about them when viewing the event via the event's page!

                                      • ICS feed stats

We should be able to track the number of subscribers to a given ICS feed link.

I know that this will be inaccurate, as Google only fetches once for all the Google account subscribers, but as long as we can see the following details, we can have a rough estimate/idea of the feed usage (especially with ETAG and Cookie IDs):
                                        1) IP Address with IP2location
                                        2) HTTP Header: Request context; including From, User Agent, Host & etc...
                                        3) HTTP Header: Response context; Allow, Server
                                        4) HTTP Header: Date with User's timezone
                                        5) HTTP Header: Proxies
                                        6) HTTP Header: Do Not…

                                        • Custom ICS Feed URL (permalink)

We should be able to make custom permalinks for ICS feeds, so, instead of:
                                          http://wpshindig.com/events/map/?action=tribe_geosearch&tribe_paged=1&tribe_event_display=map&featured=false&tribe-bar-geoloc-lat=51.5073509&tribe-bar-geoloc-lng=-0.12775829999998223&tribe-bar-geoloc=London&ical=1&tribe_display=map

We should be able to specify .ICS export links for certain custom filter, like:
                                          http://wpshindig.com/eventsfeeds/yearlylondonevents.ics

This is a much nicer link and easier to distribute in posters and QR codes.
