Feature Ideas

Hey there and welcome to our feature request forum for The Events Calendar, Event Tickets and all of the premium plugins we develop provide on TheEventsCalendar.com!

We’re always looking for new and awesome ways to improve our products. We think they’re pretty great out of the box, but we also know that there are often things that could make them even better for how folks like yourself use them in the real world. Our tools help the right people, get to the right place at the right time. How can we improve our products and make them super awesome for you and your users? That’s where we can use your help!

If there are features that our products do not currently support but you think would be a huge added value for you and lots of other people, then please share them here with us. The submission form will walk you through a few quick questions to get the ball rolling.

Before posting your idea, here are a few tips that will help make your request stand out and succeed:

  • Look to see if someone else has suggested the same idea, or something very similar. Many ideas are being submitted and it’s very possible that another request already exists. In that case, add your vote to the existing request.
  • Be as descriptive as possible. What does the feature do? Where would it be located? Who would use it? How does this improve the overall experience of managing an events calendar in WordPress?
  • Use mockups, if possible. Pictures are worth a thousand words and having a visual often brings a greater level of clarity to an idea.

Please not, this is not a place to get support or ask questions about how the plugin works. If you need help, please visit our help desk. If you use our free core plugin, you can post in our forum on WordPress.org.

I suggest you ...

  1. RSS Category Filter

Ability to filter RSS feed by category.

We use ECPro & Tickets Plus to manage all our events (a mixture of public and private). Would like to be able to filter by category so that we can easily market events to people interested in a particular type of training course via integration with our ESP. At present it's unusable as using the RSS feed provides links to private training courses and doesn't allow us to target people with courses that might be relevant to them.

I have seen admin comments that other technologies are being introduced but no further information…

  2. More sophisticated related events results

This is an idea to improve the “related events” feature on Event Calendar.

As of today, this feature basically only relies on categories and tags to suggest related events, which is very basic to say the least. There are free WP Plugin out there like “Yet Another Related Posts Plugin” that are based on a customizable algorithm to suggest related posts based on more than simple categories and tags.

For instance, I could imagine that in addition to categories and tags, related events could be based on geography (ex: other events in Colorado / other events within 80 miles from…

  3. Community Events > option to import from CSV

Community Events is pretty well done, except if you have more than a few events (or venues, or organizers). It's a real turnoff trying to get larger organizations to use it and not to be able to import. How about adding that option in settings - to expose the importer?

  4. Improved Availability Settings

Offer settings for stock management so that the user can decide how they would like the programme to behave.

E.g. for us, if an attendee is moved/deleted/refunded, we would ALWAYS want the stock/availability to increase back (not sure why anyone wouldn't to be hones). You don't offer this an an option so we have to manually check every time what has happened (and manually adjust if necessary).

  5. customize color for tribe-events-list-separator-month

I would like to be able to customize the color for the class : tribe-events-list-separator-month

Being able to change the BG color/styling would be very handy indeed for a site that doesn't use white as it's BG.

    Thanks!

  6. Add Ability to Limit Submissions to Users with Specific Roles

    Requested Feature:
Build in a security option to restrict access to members of a certain role or roles.

    Challenge:
Currently Community Events has two options to control what site users can submit events for inclusion on the calendar. Allow all registered users to submit events or allow anonymous user submissions.

    Scenario:
Our organization has leadership positions that are voted upon by the membership. These elections are annual and therefore, the positions turn over regularly. For the benefit of these elected users, most of which who know nothing about WordPress, we need a clean and simple to use “form” that allows…

  7. Collect Attendee Information for Community tickets

I would love to have community tickets being able to collect attendee information and have all the same functionality as if you were creating an event from the admin (set fields, use saved fieldsets) and all that good stuff the admins have. I think it's a bit tedious that someone submits an event with tickets but doesn't have any attendee information associated to that ticket. I feel like this feature should be automatic or should have implemented awhile back!

  8. custom coloring for shortcode tribe_events_list

Be able to change the colors on the tribe_events_list shortcode date graphic and event title without having to use custom CSS or other coding. Or provide a support answer for this issue with the CSS required so that we can easily grab, modify and paste into our website custom CSS.

  9. Implement automatic redirects for events that have passed and been deleted

We run events across the country and when these events pass they are deleted and return a 404 page when crawled by Google. I suggest you implement an option within the settings for an event to "redirect to this page after deleted" and then a field to input the redirect url.

  10. Add more features to the customizer

Currently the customizer only allow for adding colors etc. it would be so useful to be able to use the customizer to change the tile/font/etc of a calendar view (month, week, etc.) without having to deal with css and code.

Such a simple thing should not be so hard to implement!

    Thanks!

  11. Bring an Android & iOS app for adding Events directly to website.

    Greetings,
I am writing this to give you a suggestion to develop an Android and iOS app for your Event Plugin. I am a freelancer an often use this plugin for my clients as I love it. Unfortunately, Many Clients do not want to login to their dashboard to add an event. They often say if there is any way to add events from mobile phone or if they can add an event on Google Calendar, it should be added on Website Events page too on auto. So I face such feedback. Today I thought to give you a suggestion…

  12. Mass export all attendees

An option to export a list of all event attendees in Wordpress to a CSV file, with cells for date, event info, registration info, etc. The list is available as a Wordpress export file, but is downloaded as a WP XML.

  13. Rebuild a fully-functioning Facebook import by scraping data

Facebook is still the #1 place for most people to post events. Although the official FB api is still stagnating, there are other solutions that can work just as well (in addition or in place of the current Tribe Extension).

    Possibilities:
    1. Use the .ics feed. Thats what Time.ly and other competitors are doing.
    2. Parse the URL. This method (used by geodirectory: https://wpgeodirectory.com/social-importer-v2-beta-released/) lets you get information thats neither in the .ics or the *old* API.

  14. Community Events: Allow anonymous event submission form to collect contact details

This seems to have come up a couple of times before but never really got anywhere. So I'm going to try it again.

Currently the options seem to allow:
    - Existing registered WordPress users to submit events
    - Completely anonymous events with no contact details at all

My use case is: I want people to submit events that will be moderated by an admin. In some cases the admin may want to contact the submitter about their event before publishing.

The UX for creating a new user is too complicated: adding a password and logging in and so on are…

  15. allow user to save/star events

Allow users to save, star or favourite events. So they can plan which events they would like to attend. This would be a huge value-add to the end user where there are a lot of events to choose from and they may want to attend a few.

  16. Allow default ticket end date to be edited

By default, if no end date for a ticket is selected, ET & ET+ auto populate the end date/time with the event end date/time. For our purposes as a busy theater, this makes no sense as it allows people to buy tickets online after the event has already started. This means we need to manually add an end date/time to each ticket which is very labor intensive.

I would like to suggest that the ability to change the default ticket end date/time behavior be editable, either via some sort of settings option on the frontend or via hooks in the…

  18. "Move to trash events older than" setting - option to make this user defined.

We need a way to have past events moved to the trash, but 3 months is too long of a time period. It would be much more useful if that field was user definable. Even 1 day would be better... but an option to trash events that are over would be a better option for us.

  19. Events categories and events dates in the permalink structure

For a better SEO friendly URL structure I suggest the customization of the permalink structure including the category for the single event and maybe the date of th event too.
