Feature Ideas

Hey there and welcome to our feature request forum for The Events Calendar, Event Tickets and all of the premium plugins we develop provide on TheEventsCalendar.com!

We’re always looking for new and awesome ways to improve our products. We think they’re pretty great out of the box, but we also know that there are often things that could make them even better for how folks like yourself use them in the real world. Our tools help the right people, get to the right place at the right time. How can we improve our products and make them super awesome for you and your users? That’s where we can use your help!

If there are features that our products do not currently support but you think would be a huge added value for you and lots of other people, then please share them here with us. The submission form will walk you through a few quick questions to get the ball rolling.

Before posting your idea, here are a few tips that will help make your request stand out and succeed:

  • Look to see if someone else has suggested the same idea, or something very similar. Many ideas are being submitted and it’s very possible that another request already exists. In that case, add your vote to the existing request.
  • Be as descriptive as possible. What does the feature do? Where would it be located? Who would use it? How does this improve the overall experience of managing an events calendar in WordPress?
  • Use mockups, if possible. Pictures are worth a thousand words and having a visual often brings a greater level of clarity to an idea.

Please not, this is not a place to get support or ask questions about how the plugin works. If you need help, please visit our help desk. If you use our free core plugin, you can post in our forum on WordPress.org.

I suggest you ...

    • the-events-calendar-community-events.4.5.9 Front End Editing content issue.

This plugin is not proving wysiwyg editor in front end edit form.

If we edit an event from front end , it is showing HTML tags directly in teaxtarea this is not a cool feature.

It must be an wysiwyg editor,

      • Improve the Events Calendar Pro Week View

I'm afraid the Week View in Events Calendar Pro just isn't a good user experience. With events stacking on top of each other, it's impossible to see what's actually going on during a day.

In the short-term, it would be nice to have the Week View list out event titles in the same way the month view does - title only with hover events to get further details.

Why not just use the month view? Well, it's pretty slow once the site is filled up with events. I'm making an assumption here the week view would load up in about…

              • Default last date/time for ticket sales in Event Tickets Plus to end date/time of event.

Entering start and end time for events is optional, but without it, events to be on sale after the event has finished. Sure, the event goes into a past events page, with a heading 'This event is has passed' but recently someone bought a ticket to one. Going through all previous events with multiple ticket types was required. Setting the default end sale time for any ticket to the end of the event would make remove the need to do this.

                • Add option on event website to go to the website or to the events page

I tell readers they can post their event on my events calendar. They go in and set it all up, add image and text, venue, everything. Plus it asks for the event website, which they enter. On the front end, though, after they did all this work, you click on the event and it goes straight to the event website and all that info that was entered on the events page is wasted, as it doesn't go there. I want people to go to the events page, as it's good for my website that they stay on it, and then…

                  • Allow recurring events listed on parent page to be booked directly with Event Ticket plugin

When you list out recurring events on the parent event page, after integrating Event Tickets Plus you should be able to select either parent or child events and book directly from the parent page, rather than moving to another page.

For example, I have a course, the course runs monthly. People should be able to view the parent course page, and then select the date they want to attend from a dropdown/checkbox etc and book all within the parent page.

                      • Reusable Event Template

In addition to being able to define a "ticket template" as described in another feature idea (https://tribe.uservoice.com/forums/195723-feature-ideas/suggestions/3825421-reusable-ticket-defaults-profiles-as-per-venues-a), I would suggest that this same functionality be extended to events themselves as well as tickets.

We currently use the Advanced Content Templates plugin (https://www.advancedcontenttemplates.com) for this purpose but it is limited. For example, Advanced Content Templates can't:

                        - insert the event category/categories
                        - insert the event tag(s)
                        - insert pre-defined a ticket(s)

Having a templating system for events and tickets would be a real time-saver for those who hold the same or similar events multiple times.

                        Thanks!

                        • Allow direct access to WooCommerce Product meta

In the ticket definition section, allow direct access to set some of the WooCommerce Product metadata.

For example, we use the product category to set discounts via WooCommerce Memberships. However, we are forced to go into the WooCommerce product (ticket) that is auto-defined and set the product category as needed. It would be much easier to do this from within the ticket definition section of the event itself.

                          Thanks!

                          • Display Photo View left to right

A major frustration when using Photo View is that if an event is slightly larger than the others it can throw out how the events are displayed on the page and rather than having dates in order, left to right across the page, they display out of order so that some rows are from left to right and other rows are from right to left. This is my favourite view but is counter intuitive for visitors to the site who expect their to be a natural order for viewing the events.

Your admin summary screens are incredibly sparse, in general. I am referring to the summary lists of venues, organizers and events -- not the screens with detail on each venue, organizer and events

Critically important: List of venues should have city and other location details
Quite important: List of events should have the source of the event (e.g. what feed created the event)
Less important, but very useful: List of organizers could have contact info (phone, email, website)

It very inconvenient to have to open up the detail of a venue just to see what city it is in when…

As per this thread, this is not currently possible with tribe_events. It was suggested I use the Venus feature and tribe_featured_venue shortcode, but that a) doesn't allow for full month view and b) duplicates functionality of my listing theme.

Installing/maintaining/styling/troubleshooting WooCommerce seems like overkill for many applications and seems like a common criticism of Event Tickets Plus. The plugin's existing functionality (configuring & selecting multiple ticket levels and quantities) seems perfect for handing off to simpler checkout processes than Woo - namely Stripe's excellent Checkout or the ever-popular PayPal. Seems like an easy win for simpler applications.

I’m an entrepreneur, and I use the community events plugin to enable clubs and bars in London to list their events on my website. The problem is I find it hard to convince them to do so, because the community events plugin doesn’t display any visual or meaningful stats, e.g. how many visitors landed on their individual event pages (should be a stat), how many people bought tickets over time (should be visual like a line chart), how many people abandon the cart etc.

Most other ticket platforms show stats for event creators, and it provides valuable information for organisers…

                                    • Add more frequency options to Event Aggregator automatic imports

Right now, the automatic import frequency options in Event Aggregator go from hourly to daily with no options in between. Those are hugely different for how up to date the calendar would be. I'd like either a few options in between (ie every two hours, every three hours, every six hours) or the ability to manually choose the frequency.

                                      • Look at integrating what3word addresses for events.

Have a look at the work being done at www.what3words.com - their system is even better and easier to understand than long/lat and I think it would integrate really well with the Events Calendar.

                                        • have shared capacity available for csv import

When importing events and tickets. They should really have the option shared capacity available. As this is not available you have to do this manually or by manipulating the database.
